THE DIFFERENCE

Why moves go wrong in Karachi

It's almost never the truck. It's who's carrying your sofa down the stairs, and whether the price you agreed is the price you pay.

The usual booking

  • Labour hired at the gate on the morning of the move
  • Verbal rate that grows once the truck is loaded
  • Packing material charged as an extra at the end
  • Furniture dismantled by whoever has a screwdriver
  • Nobody to call after the truck leaves

A Mazdawala move

  • Trained, in-house crew who work together every day
  • One written quote, fixed before packing starts
  • Packing material included in the quoted scope
  • Dismantling and reassembly by the same team
  • A supervisor on site and one number throughout
SCOPE

What's in the quote, and what isn't

Hidden extras are the most common complaint in this industry. Here's the line, in writing, before you book.

Included as standard

  • Pre-move survey and written quotation
  • Cartons, bubble wrap, stretch film and tape
  • Wrapping of furniture, mattresses and appliances
  • Dismantling and reassembly of standard furniture
  • Loading, covered transport and unloading
  • Room-wise placement at the new address
  • Removal of used packing material after unpacking

Quoted separately

  • AC uninstall and reinstall (technician work)
  • Electrician, plumber and carpenter jobs at the new home
  • Wooden crating for pianos, safes and heavy machinery
  • Crane or hoist where stairs and lifts don't fit the item
  • Storage between move-out and move-in dates
  • Goods-in-transit cover
  • Waiting charges if the new premises aren't ready on the day
THE PROCESS

How a Mazdawala move runs

  1. 01

    Survey

A supervisor visits your home or office — or reviews WhatsApp photos for smaller moves — and lists what's actually moving, floor by floor.

  2. 02

    Written quote

One figure covering labour, material, vehicle and transport, with the scope and the extras spelled out. It doesn't change on moving day.

  3. 03

    Packing day

Fragile items packed first, furniture dismantled and wrapped, cartons numbered and labelled by room against a signed inventory.

  4. 04

    Move day

Supervised loading, covered transport, and a driver whose name and number you have before the truck leaves.

  5. 05

    Unload & set up

Cartons delivered to the right rooms, furniture reassembled, beds put back together, and packing waste taken away.

PACKING MATERIAL

What your things are actually wrapped in

Most damage in a local move happens between the bedroom and the truck, not on the road. Material quality is what decides whether your crockery survives the staircase — so it's part of the quote, not an upsell at the door.

  • 5-ply corrugated cartonsStandard and heavy-duty sizes — books and crockery go in small boxes, never large ones.
  • Bubble wrap & foam sheetsGlass, mirrors, TVs, crockery and anything with a screen or a sharp corner.
  • Stretch filmWrapped around sofas, mattresses and drawer units so nothing opens in transit.
  • Corrugated rollsEdge and surface protection for wooden furniture and polished tops.
  • Wooden cratingFor safes, machinery, artwork and anything that can't take a knock.
  • Cartons labelled by roomNumbered against an inventory both sides sign — so unpacking isn't a treasure hunt.
SERVICE AREAS

Where we work in Karachi

We move across the whole city. These are the areas we're in most weeks — tell us your lane and building at booking so the right vehicle and crew size are assigned.

Narrow lanes, no lift, or a fourth-floor walk-up? Say so during the survey. It changes the crew size, and we'd rather price it correctly than argue about it on the day.

PRICING

What decides your moving cost

Nobody can quote a real number over the phone in thirty seconds. These five things set the price — a survey checks all of them in about twenty minutes.

Volume

How much is actually moving decides the vehicle size and the number of trips. This is the biggest single factor.

Access

Floor number, lift availability and how close a truck can park. A fourth-floor walk-up is a different job to a ground floor with lift access.

Packing scope

Full professional packing costs more than packing your own cartons and having us handle only furniture and appliances.

Distance

Within Karachi it's a small factor. Between cities it becomes the main one.

Date

Month-end, weekends and the days around Eid are the busiest. Booking a week ahead usually prices better.

FAQ

Movers and packers questions

How much do movers and packers charge in Karachi?

There's no flat rate, because the price is set by volume, access, packing scope, distance and date. A one-bedroom flat with lift access and self-packed cartons sits at the bottom of the range; a four-bedroom house on the fourth floor with full packing sits at the top. The survey is free and takes about twenty minutes, and you get one written figure that holds on moving day.

How far in advance should I book?

A week is comfortable. Month-end, weekends and the days around Eid book out first, so if your date is fixed and falls in one of those windows, book earlier. For urgent moves, call — we keep some capacity for short-notice bookings.

Do you provide the packing material, or do I buy it?

We provide it, and it's included in the quoted scope — cartons, bubble wrap, stretch film, corrugated rolls and tape. It isn't added as an extra at the end of the day. Wooden crating for safes, pianos or machinery is quoted separately because it's built to size.

Will you dismantle and reassemble my furniture?

Yes. Beds, wardrobes, dining tables and standard flat-pack furniture are dismantled by our crew and put back together at the new address by the same team. AC units are different — those need a technician, and we quote that separately.

Are my goods insured during the move?

Goods-in-transit cover is available on request and must be arranged at quotation stage, before packing starts — it can't be added afterwards. Declare the value of the consignment when you book so the cover matches what's actually being moved.

Can you move a house and a car on the same day?

Yes. Household goods go on a covered truck and the car goes on a carrier, dispatched together so both arrive around the same time. See car carrier services for how the vehicle side works.
